Augustijn Blond

2.79

Augustinian monks started brewing Augustijn in 1295 at their monastery in Gent. In the Middle Ages, many priests and monks brewed and marketed their own beer. As the water was often contaminated, it was safer to drink beer because the water was boiled during the brewing process. The historic yeast strains used give the beer its mild, smooth, but very rich flavour. A beer for any occasion that excels when is savoured in a relaxed atmosphere. If you drink Augustijn when it is young, you get to enjoy its fruity, hoppy flavour. When the beer is more mature you are transported back to taste its rich history, with a deeper colour and more body. Augustijn Blonde is mild and malty with a slight touch of vanilla and a finish that is slightly bitter and smooth.
